In this course learners will learn about practices to help support children and families as they transition among programs in the early care and education system.

Course objectives
At the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Explain what is meant by intentional activities to support planning before, during and after the transition; and
  • Use a decision-making process to help a child and family be prepared for and adjust to a new environment.

This course aligns with the following 2014 DEC Recommended Practice:

  • TR2. Practitioners use a variety of planned and timely strategies with the child and family before, during, and after the transition to support successful adjustment and positive outcomes for both the child and family.

This is a 5-hour course worth .5 CEUs.

CEUs are approved by the Friday Center for Continuing Education at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. This course has also been approved for early childhood state training hours in the following states: Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, Utah. Early intervention credits (i.e., 5 credits) have also been approved by the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities.
